WOOSTER, Ohio – March 3, 2014 – For a second time since December, calorie conscious consumers in Ohio lament the arrival of the newly named “Forbidden Brownie” to Buehler’s Fresh Foods Bakeries. Available in a variety of delectable flavors and each weighing approximately one-third pound, reverberations from the collective craving could be felt throughout areas around Buehler’s Fresh Foods fourteen stores in Ohio.
Congratulations, Kathy Lenarz of Dover, Ohio, for her winning entry in Buehler’s “Name the Brownie” contest. Kathy’s “Forbidden Brownie” entry was selected from over 1,200 entries. Bob Buehler, Buehler’s EVP of Marketing and Merchandising said, “ Buehler’s has been selling “The Brownie” without a name since December of 2013. Even in that short time the newly named “Forbidden Brownie” has developed a strong, cult-like following throughout Ohio. We are proud to bring this luscious, mouthwatering treat to Ohioans living near Buehler’s stores.
The mouthwatering “Forbidden Brownie,” made from a closely guarded recipe, has received acclaim from food critics worldwide. Originally created and sold in the 1980’s by the local, family-owned and operated, Dorothy Lane Markets in Dayton, Ohio, under another name, the “Forbidden Brownie” is now being made available to Buehler’s customers. The “Forbidden Brownie” is available exclusively at Buehler’s stores in Ohio.
Norman Mayne, CEO of Dorothy Lane Markets, Dayton, Ohio stated, “As a family-owned business ourselves, we are thrilled to be able to work with Buehler’s on bringing the “Forbidden Brownie” to Buehler’s stores. The “Forbidden Brownie” name is an outstanding choice by Buehler’s customers. I am sure that chocolate lovers throughout the area have reason to rejoice today at the newly named “Forbidden Brownie.”
For Buehler’s Fresh Foods, the “Forbidden Brownie” Story is one of local, Ohio, family-owned businesses working together to offer their customers one of the finest treats on the globe.
