Buehler’s Fresh Foods now offers online grocery shopping at their Coshocton store. Customers can now choose to order groceries online for curbside pickup or delivery – or shop in-store if they prefer.

With the addition of Coshocton, Buehler’s now offers online shopping at these locations – Wooster Milltown, Medina River Styx and Forest Meadows, Canton, New Philadelphia, Dover, Portage Lakes, Ashland and Wadsworth – providing shoppers with a way to shop without stepping inside the store.

The online shopping service, powered by Buehler’s partner Freshop, allows customers to order groceries, create shopping lists, get coupons, and access weekly ads on the store’s website. Shop Online: www.buehlers.com

Buehler’s Fresh Foods raised nearly $131,000, which translates into 524,000 meals, through our register campaign, fun employee contests, and food bins, which happened at a critical time for not only the Foodbank, but for every American citizen. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, our people prevailed, and  it’s a great comfort to know that even during these most difficult times, we can still rely on our customers and employees to think of those in need.

We had a stellar team at the helm coordinating, keeping track, and above all, staying organized and in touch with everyone involved. Kudos to the outstanding efforts of our Store Champions, Service & Facilities Managers, Kathy Bailey, Laura Pope, our Marketing team, and our Community Relations team.

When asked about how this campaign was different from previous years, Bernie Rusnak, our New Philadelphia Store Manager (whose store raised $7,723.29 for H4H) stated, “Different just because of the epidemic and the stores were quite overwhelmed the first few weeks in mid March. As things settled, we were able to work more efficiently.”

Cherye Curlutu, Service and Facilities manager at our Dover store, stated that their store brought attention to the fact that school children were now at home full time, and parents needed to have more food available which helped promote the Foodbank.

A few facts about the Foodbank:

• They distribute food through a network of 500 agencies from food pantries, hot meal sites, shelters, and hunger relief programs.
• 263,200 different individuals receive food distributed by the Foodbank each year
• 1.21 lbs. =1 meal and $1 = 4 meals
• Food insecurity affects  1 in 7 individuals and 1 in 4 children
• Food insecure individuals do not always know where they will find their next meal.

Buehler’s Fresh Foods has proudly supported the Akron-Canton Foodbank as a Harvest for Hunger participant for the past twelve years. We want to do our part to end hunger in each of the communities we serve.

“Best Time to Shop” is a new way for customers to determine the busiest and slowest times at their favorite Buehler’s Fresh Foods.

By going to Buehlers.com, clicking  “Best Time to Shop” and looking at the easy to read color charts for your Buehler’s store –  customers will be able to save time and also do their part to reduce overcrowding – by spreading the shopping out through the whole week.

Shoppers are invited to use these charts to choose a less busy time to visit our stores, which should help to limit the amount of people in the store at any given time.  Shoppers will more easily be able to practice social distancing when they shop at less busy times. Every week Buehler’s will be looking at sales for every store for every hour and projecting the next week’s customer counts into three hour segments. We’ll share this information on this website to help customers with their planning. The store charts below show daily time segments with color coding: red for the busiest times, yellow for average, and green for slowest shopping times.

Dan Shanahan, CEO and President of Buehler’s said “The State of Ohio has requested that we help space the business out by limiting the maximum number of customers allowed, posting it on our front door then making sure if we hit the maximum a queue is spaced six feet apart outside. We applaud that request and think that in addition Buehler’s “Best Time to Shop” will help to spread the business out even further without making people wait in line outside. Limiting business at peak times is also naturally regulated by the number of carts, hand baskets and parking spots that we have in our stores.”

Buehler’s Fresh Foods announces that it will be giving over $250,000 in appreciation pay to all employees as they continue to work during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The appreciation pay will be retroactive to Sunday, March 15th and continue through April 18th. Buehler’s has also made a commitment to retain all 227 restaurant employees that were affected by the temporary restaurant closures and reassigned them to other departments throughout the store.
