Our Beginnings

In 1929, the Buehler’s family opened their first Grocery Store location in New Philadelphia, Ohio. The Buehler’s philosophy was to provide emphasis on customer service, garden-fresh produce and a clean, friendly grocery store atmosphere. This is the philosophy that our stores embody today.

Our Expansion

In 1932, the Buehler’s family decided to expand their grocery locations to Wayne County, which is now the home to our headquarters office in the city of Wooster. Since the 1930’s Buehler’s has opened many locations. Currently we operate 13 grocery locations throughout Northeastern Ohio.

Sale of Buehler’s

In 2017, the Buehler’s family decided to retire from the grocery industry and was interested in selling their company. They decided to sell their business to their employees, turning the company into an ESOP. Buehler’s is thriving under its new employee ownership.

Future of Buehler’s

Our company is looking forward to expansion. It’s Buehler’s goal to actively look for new opportunities to rapidly expand our company into new markets and communities. We are looking for great talent to help us achieve that goal.

Our Passion to Help

Buehler’s has a passion to help our communities thrive. As a company, we participate in programs that are socially responsible to help those that are in need. Some of the organizations that we partner with include:

Our Family’s Direct Your Label – By buying Our Family brand products – and saving the UPC barcodes from those cans, boxes and bottles – store guests can help schools, faith-based and other community organizations earn money for textbooks, art supplies and more. For each bundle of 500 Our Family UPC barcodes collected, participating nonprofit organizations can earn $25.

Harvest for Hunger – The Harvest for Hunger Campaign is a partnership between four food banks and focuses on fighting hunger across 21 counties in Northeast Ohio. This is the Foodbank’s largest fundraising campaign and helps support food distribution all year long.

American Heart Association – The American Heart Association is a non-profit organization in the United States that funds cardiovascular medical research, educates consumers on healthy living and fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke.
