The Wooster Salvation Army kicked off the Christmas kettle campaign on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Buehler’s Milltown, 3540 Burbank Road, Wooster. Community leaders and Salvation Army representatives rang the ceremonial bells to officially welcome the familiar red kettle to the holiday season.
During the ceremony: Wooster Mayor Bob Breneman, United Way Executive Director Todd Jasin, and Buehler’s Vice President Bob Buehler expressed appreciation to the Salvation Army team for serving the Wooster community throughout the year. Sara Hider, Miss Ohio 2015, led the group in singing, and Captain Madelaine Dwier directed the ringing of the bells. To enhance the holiday spirit, The Salvation Army brass band treated attendees to festive holiday music.
The red kettle fund-raising effort, which will continue through Christmas Eve, depends on volunteers to raise funds in support of Christmas assistance, as well as the emergency shelter, on-site feeding program, and Family Life Center. Volunteer bell ringers are needed. To sign-up, contact The Wooster Salvation Army at 330-264-4704.
