Wooster, OH – Feb. 19, 2013

Buehler’s Fresh Foods is partnering with The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and The Cleveland Foodbank for Check Out Hunger.

Check Out Hunger is part of the Foodbank’s Harvest for Hunger campaign. Harvest for Hunger helps make free food available to the more than 500 agency programs operated by the foodbanks, such as hot meal sites, soup kitchens and pantries. Harvest for Hunger is a collaborative effort of four food banks serving 21 counties in northeast Ohio, resulting in one of the largest food and funds drives in the country.

During Check Out Hunger, which runs Feb. 17- March 30, Buehler’s Fresh Foods shoppers can scan donation slips at the checkout aisle. In the past 5 years of participation in the campaign, Buehler’s has donated $82,852 and 13,035 pounds of food to the foodbanks.

“Buehler’s dedication to Check Out Hunger is a key component in the campaign’s continued success,” said Dan Flowers, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. “Buehler’s corporate support allows generous grocery shoppers to make donations that will help hungry people in Northeast Ohio all year long.”

One hundred percent of Check Out Hunger donations go towards providing food at no cost to community members struggling with hunger. Join Buehler’s Fresh Foods by coming to the local stores, and Check Out Hunger.
